Read on for a closer look at each of these aspects, and see what exactly both iPhones have to offer.

Design & Colors

The ‌iPhone 12‌’s edges are flat, whereas the ‌iPhone 11‌’s are convex. The ‌iPhone 12‌ is a refinement of the ‌iPhone 11‌’s design, which Apple refers to as an “elevation,” rather than a complete revamping. Even though the ‌iPhone 12‌ looks significantly more contemporary than the ‌iPhone‌ 11, it is also more secure to hold in the hand as its thinner by 0.9 mm and lighter by 32 grams than the ‌iPhone‌ 11. Both phones are available in ‌iPhone‌ 11 is available in White, Black, Green, Red, and Purple. However, ‌iPhone‌ 12 is also available in blue and iPhone 11 in yellow.

Display

The ‌iPhone‌ 12’s OLED Super Retina XDR display is a huge leap forward from the ‌iPhone‌ 11’s LCD Liquid Retina HD display. The OLED display delivers twice the brightness of the ‌iPhone‌ 11, significantly higher contrast and true blacks, HDR for enhanced colors, and systemwide color calibration for outstanding colour accuracy.

The device is slightly smaller in size owing to the new OLED screen having a reduced bezel compared to the previous LCD model. Furthermore, the front glass of the iPhone 12 Ceramic Shield is stronger, with up to four times improved drop performance. There are several reasons to upgrade to the ‌iPhone 12‌, one of which is its superior display. The ‌iPhone‌ 11’s Liquid Retina LCD screen is nice, but somewhat outmoded. The ‌iPhone 12‌ and OLED technologies make for a much more attractive device.

A13 vs A14 Chip

When it came out, Apple claimed that the A14 was “the fastest chip in a smartphone” and the first commercial processor manufactured on a five-nanometer process. The ‌iPhone‌ 12 is expected to be 18.4% faster in single-core performance and 17.6% faster overall thanks to its A14 Bionic neural engine, which enables a 80% boost in machine learning performance.

Performance improvements in the A14 aren’t so drastic as to make the A13 seem sluggish in comparison to the A12 Bionic. The A13 in the ‌iPhone‌ 11 remains a powerful processor that can handle all daily tasks easily.

5G Connectivity

Sub-6GHz 5G is available on the iPhone 12 which provides superior internet speeds for quicker downloads and uploads, higher-quality video streaming, more responsive gaming, real-time interactions in apps, FaceTime in high definition, and much more. ‌iPhone 12‌ also comes with a new ‘Smart Data mode,’ which intelligently assesses 5G demands and balances data usage, speed, and energy in real time to preserve battery life.

The iPhone 11 has no 5G connectivity, just the typical 4G LTE cellular connectivity that has been present in smartphones for many years.

Despite its advantages, 5G is only worth it if you have an eligible data plan and live in a place with 5G coverage. The ‌iPhone‌ 12 may be important to you if you live in an area with excellent 5G coverage or plan to keep your ‌iPhone‌ for several years. Despite the fact that 5G is in its infancy, the ‌iPhone 11‌ is still a good smartphone for its cost without 5G.

Cameras

The cameras on the iPhone‌ 11 and iPhone‌ 12 are similar. Both have a dual 12MP camera system with an Ultra Wide and a wide lens. The ‌iPhone‌ 12’s Wide lens has a slightly larger aperture (f/1.6) than the Ultra Wide lens, which gives better low-light sensitivity. The apertures on the Ultra Wide lenses are the same, as are the 12MP f/2.2 front-facing cameras on both gadgets.

The ‌iPhone 12‌ shares feature such as Night mode and Deep Fusion with the Wide camera, but the Ultra Wide and front-facing cameras also get Night mode and Deep Fusion. The iPhone 12 can record Dolby Vision HDR video at up to 30 fps and time-lapses with Night mode for video.

Battery and Charging

The ‌iPhone‌ 12 is said to last for up to 11 hours of video playback, compared to the ‌iPhone‌ 11’s ten hours, but both phones should perform similarly when it comes to battery life. Apple says that both iPhones can last up to 17 hours on a charge and charge up to 50 percent in just 30 minutes with a 20W power adapter.

Despite the fact that the ‌iPhone 12‌ has a unique charging feature, MagSafe benefits wireless charging by making it simple to align the charger with the internal coil via an array of magnets. ‌MagSafe‌ chargers can deliver up to 15W of power while still accepting existing Qi-enabled devices.

Final Thoughts

There are some key upgrades to the design, camera software, display, 5G, and MagSafe in the ‌iPhone 12‌ compared to the ‌iPhone‌ 11. While camera hardware, processor, and battery life are relatively unchanged, the addition of Night mode and Deep Fusion to the Ultra Wide and front-facing cameras of the Phone 12 might be of interest to some customers. The ‌iPhone 12‌ has several distinguishing features, including 5G connectivity, the OLED Super Retina XDR display, an improved night camera, and a refreshed design, in comparison to the iPhone‌ 11. While the device’s typical day-to-day operation may not be significantly different, the overall improvements push us to favor the ‌iPhone 12‌ over the ‌iPhone 11‌, provided we have the budget.
